Mindfulness and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy

Mindfulness and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy has been proven in many studies to build resilience and to help people overcome stress, depression, anxiety and addiction.

Mindfulness is a skill which can be learned. By learning to cultivate mindfulness we learn to live in the present moment rather than fixating on the past or worrying about the future. We also become aware of patterns of thinking and behavior which are holding us back. We can use this awareness to change negative thinking which keeps us stuck in a perpetual cycle of reaction.

As human beings we are hijacked constantly by our own internal thoughts and emotions and by external events. Mindfulness helps us cultivate a space of inner calm and peace in which we can consciously choose our thoughts and behavior. Our emotions become regulated, our thinking process clear and life is more purposeful. We can understand our past experiences while staying in the present. We grow self- compassion and compassion for others and all of the relationships around us benefit.
